A Welcome from the President of the Society of Atherosclerosis Imaging and Prevention (SAIP)
Welcome to the SAIP homepage. If you are not currently a member of SAIP, we invite you to join the Society. SAIP is poised to grow and develop over the coming years. To this end, I am pleased to outline some of our current and new initiatives:
- Reorganization of SAIP into "Councils" based on imaging modalities and interests. SAIP is comprised as three Councils, each active within domains of cardiovascular imaging and prevention:
- Carotid Intima Media Thickness Council
- Prevention Council
- Tomographic Imaging Council
- The Councils are currently working on a number of key documents including:
- CIMT Appropriateness Criteria
- Guideline on Serial CIMT Testing
- Standardized Definition of CIMT
- Standards of CIMT Performance and Training
- Standards for Radiation Protection in Noncontrast Cardiac CT
- Please note that SAIP is pledged to represent your interests in several forums including the American Heart Association [AHA] Council on Radiology, in committees and writing groups of the American College of Cardiology [ACC], in support of studies conducted by the ACC relative to the use of imaging modalities as well at other forums throughout the year.
- Increased forms of communication with the SAIP membership.
- An Annual Meeting? We intend to conduct one in the future, probably in late 2010 or early 2011.
Since 1999, the SAIP has been the sole organization focused on atherosclerosis imaging and its application to prevention. Our mission is accomplished by a worldwide network of experts and committed members through consensus statements, educational meetings and symposia.
Your support is needed and will be greatly appreciated. Please consult our Membership Application found on this website. Annual Dues are outlined in the Application.
Sincerely,

Allen J. Taylor, MD
President
